Dragon type pokemons are often hard to find and are harder to catch compared to other types of pokemon. They evolve at much higher levels as well such as lvl 55 for dragonites compared to lvl 36 for most pokemons.
Some famous trainers in the anime and game which specialize in dragon types are Lance, Clair, Drake, Drayden, Iris and Drasna. All damaging dragon-type moves were known to be special attacks but now they may be classified as physical attacks.
Dragon pokemon have strong resistance to electric, fire, grass and water, which is the main 4 types of pokemon already. They are very weak to ice type pokemon which means they are usually taken out in one hit if the opponent ice pokemon is strong. They are also weak against their own dragon type moves and as well as fairy type moves.
Furthermore, dragon pokemon are known for their high attack and special attack statistics. They also have wide physical and special move pools which make dragon types a great asset to a trainer's team.
