Pokemon Game: Pokemon Emerald

Today's blog will be about my favorite Pokemon Game out of the franchise.

Before the recent Pokemon games released on the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS, The game creators had a pattern of releasing two titles at the same time and then later releasing a third title which is a "sister" game from the first two.

An example would be Pokemon Gold and Silver - Where a sister game was released back in 2001 called Pokemon Crystal on the Gameboy Color. The reason for this besides marketing purposes, is that for each pair of games released - Their were exclusive Pokemons that could not be caught unless you had the specific game of the two. This meant that friends would buy different versions of the two just so they could trade each other Pokemons that were not in their own games. The release of sister games was so you could potentially catch all the legendaries that were in the first two releases within a single game. The sister games normally release after a year or two of the original release of the first pair.

My favorite Pokemon game is Pokemon Emerald. Pokemon Emerald was released back in 2005 for the Gameboy Advance and is a sister game to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. The game was a release based on the 3rd generation of Pokemons located in the Hoenn region of the Pokemon universe.

As with all Pokemon games there is always a pattern of being able to choose your starter Pokemon from 3 types( Fire, Water and Grass). And the three starters that you could choose from are Torchic (Fire Type) - A bird like pokemon that eventually evolves into Blaziken (This was my favorite Pokemon). Mudkip (Water Type) - A frog like pokemon that eventually evolves into Swampert. And Treecko (Grass Type) - A weird insect like pokemon that eventually evolves into Sceptile.

Pokemon Emerald was the second-highest selling game of 2005 and also the third best selling game of the Gameboy Advance. The game was immensely popular in its time.
