Poison Type


A further type of Pokemon is poison type. The poison type of Pokemon is often regarded as the weakest offensively. In earlier editions of Pokemon, like before Pokemon X/Y, poison was only effective against grass. However, with many of grass types being dual poison, this effectiveness was greatly reduced. Poison types now have the added advantage against the recently introduced fairy type. In the very early first generation, poison was also highly effective against bug, but this was later changed. Poison Pokemon generally fares better defensively, then offensively, but it’s best advantage is through status moves, for example toxic.


Grass, fighting, poison, bug and fairy types of Pokemon are not very effective against poison types.

·      Koga – Fuchisa City gym leader
·      Janine – Fuchisa City gym leader
·      Roxie – Fuchisa City gym leader

Bulbasur is one of the most common types of Pokemon, and is dual grass and poison. Here is what Bulbasat looks like:
